Rangers Crest

Date

December 2024

Location

Kent

Material

Oak

Finish

Black spray paint, red, white, and blue acrylic paint, Danish Oil

A Christmas present for a friend of mine who is a Rangers superfan. I decided to make the crest look as similar as possible to the wooden panelling in the changing rooms of Ibrox stadium, Rangers' home ground. After some research into this I found out it was a combination of Douglas Fir and Oak. I then decided to book match a piece of Oak which I then cut the Rangers shirt crest from. It turned out to be a really challenging project due to the relative complexity of the crest, and how I was trying to make the crest from one piece of Oak. To add an extra layer of depth to the crest I painted the back and sides of the crest black, with red, white, and blue Jackson Pollock style paint splats to replicate the colours of Rangers.
