For an exhibition at Uni I investigated the properties of the traditional Japanese charred timber cladding system, Yakisugi. Yakisugi is a water-resistant, and rot resistant form of timber cladding, traditionally made from Cedar. I charred each of the pieces of timber before removing the excess ash, and I gave it a coat of Olive oil
